Apples mature in late summer or autumn. Many varieties exist with a wide range of sizes but most growers produce apples that are seven to 8 centimeters in diameter. The skin of ripe apples is generally red, yellow, green, pink, or russeted. Apple skin is covered in a protective layer of wax. The flesh of all apples is generally pale yellowish-white.

Apples have been known to help reduce dementia, lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of stroke. Recent research suggests some properties in apples could help prevent the development of breast cancer.

Temperature:The storage temperature for apples is usually between 30 and 40 degrees.
