Consalo Family Farms Veggie Pizza
Ingredients:
1 Pizza dough, store bought or home-made
8 ounces of Consalo Family Farms swiss chard, sauteéd
1 large onion, carmelized
2 tbsp of olive oil
Salt
1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tbsp honey
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
Heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat in a large, heavy skillet.
Add the onions and a pinch of salt, stirring often.
Cook until tender, about 10 minutes.
Turn the heat to low, cover and cook another 10 minutes, stirring often, until the onions are golden brown.
Remove from the heat.
Remove the swiss chard stems and wash the leaves.
Bring a medium pot of water to a boil.
Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in another skillet and add the chard leaves, a pinch of salt, and sauté until wilted.
Roll out the pizza dough, oil a 14-inch pizza pan and dust with cornmeal.
Place the dough on the pan.
Spread the onions over the dough and top with swiss chard.
Sprinkle hazelnuts over the pizza and place in oven.
Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until the crust is nicely browned.
Remove from oven and drizzle honey over.
Sprinkle with red pepper flakes.
Cut into 8 slices and serve.
